Business Intelligence Requirement Gathering - Part 01

The organization I am working for is working towards improving it's business intelligence capabilities. This opened me the doors to learn a brand new subject which I was never exposed to in my career anywhere before.

This is an innocent attempt to collect all my learning to one location which may help any business analyst who is a total novice like to to the huge business intelligence arena.

Just as any other project the very first step of a business intelligence project is a Request For Proposal (RFP).  It is a document that solicits proposal, often made through a bidding process , by an organization interested in procurement of a commodity, service or valuable asset, to potential suppliers to submit business proposals.

As per the request the proposal was  made and submitted which went through many discussions and finally we got the project after many iterations of proposal reviews and negotiation sessions.

So then the Statement Of Work (SOW) which again prepared together with contribution of the legal team.

All done and it is closer to start the requirements gathering phase of the project. This is my very first project and I wanted to learn some DW/BI before going to the client as I need to satisfy the customer and make a good impressions while making sure that the necessary details are gathered and brought  back to the office for the team to implement the solution.

Since the beginning of a well designed Business Intelligence solution is a data warehouse, my first approach was to learn bits and pieces on data warehousing concepts. The learning outcomes until now on  basic data warehousing concepts  are listed below and definitely this added certain level of confidence to me before walking to a client.

Know Little DW/BI

Know the needful technical and business aspects - jargon/basic concepts/methodologies  always plays handy. For most of the non technical business analysts in the IT industry find this challenging though worth giving a try as I guarantee the level of value it can add to you.

What is a Data Warehouse? A data warehouse is constructed and integrating data from multiple data sources. It can  support analytical reporting and decision making. Further a data warehouse contain more generalized and consolidated data in a multi dimensional way.

Difference between a dataware house and a data mart is that while a data warehouse serves an organizations data mart is focused on on particular business segment. So as a business analyst we might need to collect requirements for a BI solution which supply analytics for the whole organization of a department.

For me a data ware house is also another database with more processed data which has pre-populated data in it.It removes the effort of  querying and  joining multiple tables in the database but have the data readily available and anyone interested can view data faster than in an operational database.

The type of data ware house needed for this assignment is a analytical type as the requirement is to slice- dice and  drill down data  to evaluate sales and marketing performance of the organization.

So me being the business analyst for the BI solution implementation for the XYZ organization, my first assignment is to understand the facts and related dimensions . Now what is facts and what is dimensions?

Fact table contains the numerical and historical data. Ex: Number of Orders Placed, Total Revenue, Quantity goes in to fact list as they are all numerical and organizations use these figures to take decisions on  their business. Data warehouse consultants collect the facts to create fact tables.

Dimensions are categorized by which summarized data can be viewed.Ex: Number of Orders placed can be viewed against the location, time/date/month or even by sales agent. Further Quantity can be viewed against the time by customer by location or even by the sales personnel. The dimensions can create dimension tables.A dimension has its attributes.Ex: Customer dimension has name, address and country as its attributes.

Fact tables and dimension tables together create sachems.

STAR Schema

The fact table is connected to its dimensions in the shape of a star which is the reason why this is called a star schema. Dimension tables are not duplicated/repeated.

Each dimension table alone with its attributes is linked to its fact table and all the data in the schema are de-normalized.

SNOWFLAKE Schema

In the snowflake scheme there can exist tables which are normalized. Further the table structure is more complected and may not be able to provide the expected level of fast data retrials to the end  solution.

The star schema is advised to be used in the projects.

When deriving the dimensions for a DW it is advised to use the most granular level as possible as it ease the analysis process.

I will be write on a BUS MATRIX - the first deliverable of requirements gathering in a DW/BI project  as my next post.

Stay tuned. Next Post is Coming Soon.

P.S: Please feel free to comment on the items which I have not written correct as if will be a good learning to me and everyone else who is following me.

Ready to walk with the GIANTS?

Great thoughts from Robin Sharma - if you want to walk with a giants towards SUCCESS

--Release scarcity + adopt generosity as your main way of thinking.
--Forgive the unforgiven, as you are carrying them on your back.
--Understand that every person who has shown up in your life arrived to help you become the person you now are. Appreciate and love them.
--Trust that suffering grows strength and your trials can serve your growth vastly. The best of us who have graced this earth leveraged their pain into greater humility, bravery and love.
--Commit to doing the projects that terrify you + shifting from accepting good work from yourself to demanding legendary production from yourself.
--Never miss an opportunity to serve or encourage another human.
--Refuse to cling to stagnation. Complacency destroys potentially awesome lives. So as you rise to new levels of success and joy, keep optimizing.
--Aggressively notice the miracles in every so-called average day--they are there for those awake enough to witness them.
--Smile at strangers, do kind things for zero return + be polite (it's so uncool to be rude).
--Make a stop doing list so you delete the misuses of your oh so precious time.
--Less news more books. Period.
--Be a person of depth, wisdom, understanding, ingenuity, audacity, decency and love. At the end, even the finest of us will have wished we'd loved more.
--Remember that we get what we settle for, so set audacious goals that evoke the fiery brilliance that resides within you.
--Write hand written thank you notes to your mentors and those who have helped you. In a world of digital, it shows how much you care.

Believe in your talents + gifts + dreams.

What it takes to be 'LIKED'

Likeability is completely under a person’s control and has outlined what it takes to be likeable:

Ask questions
Many people make the mistake of not actually listening to people when they are talking because they are so focused on what it is they want to say, this comes across as rude. To avoid this people should ask questions, show interest in the other person and show that they have been listening.

Turn off your phone
People should commit to a conversation and focus all their energy on that conversation. Not only will they notice that they enjoy the conversations more when they are fully immersed but people will like them more when they are not constantly glancing at their phone or tuning out mid-conversation to reply to a text.

Be genuine
No one likes a fake. People gravitate toward those who are genuine because they know they can trust them. Likeable people are confident enough to be comfortable in their own skin, not pretending to be someone they are not.

Use positive body language
Likeable people are aware of their gestures, expressions and tone of voice. Using an enthusiastic tone, uncrossing arms and maintaining eye contact with the person speaking are all forms of positive body language that draws people in.

Smile
It sounds obvious but people naturally mirror the body language of the person they are talking to. If you want to be liked then smile during a conversation and the person will unconsciously return the favour.

Balance passion and fun
People gravitate toward those who are passionate. Having said that, passionate people can often come across as too serious or uninterested because they tend to be absorbed in their work. Likeable people balance their passion with the ability to have fun. At work they are serious, yet friendly. But outside of work they are also very sociable.

Getting Started with Agile-Scrum Methodology - Planning, Monitoring : Part III

Welcome to another most important section of Agile-Scrum methodology.Planning is one of the pillar stones in project management practice. If you are now thinking of the other pillars  - there are all together 4 pillar stones which are Planning, Organizing, Monitoring and Controlling. All these are equally important though planning is significant and mostly important as it is the stepping stone of the project.

In Agile-Scrum Planning happens in 2 steps.

As explained in Part I prioritized product backlog items are considered for the sprint and during the sprint planning meeting which all the team members participate, they turn the backlog items in to several user stories.

Ex:
Backlog Item: User Authentication

User Stories :
1.As a system administrator users should be able to enter their details and register with the system so that the information can be used for other marketing activities.

2.As a user I should be able to enter my username and the password and login in to my account so that I have maintain my own wishlist.

3.As a system administrator the users should not be able to try the password more than three times so that I can guarantee the security level of the system to the existing customers.

These user story stories needs to be given story points based on their complexity, effort and doubt.

The user story then needs to be broken in to tasks which are more simpler units so that it is more easier and suitable for estimations.

Ex:
As a system administrator users should be able to enter their details and register with the system so that the information can be used for other marketing activities.

Tasks:
user registration form
registration form integration with the email and email generation
database entry
user interface

Then each task needs to be added an hourly estimation using the experience  and the skill level of the developer.

These hours can be used as the sprint estimation and at the end of the project the scrum master can create a graph using the estimated hours against the actual which will provide many information to the stake holders.

So this is simply the planning process of Agile-Scrum.

Please feel free to add your comments and correct me if you think anything needs to be corrected as it will help me as well as the readers of this blog to grow more and more.

Monitoring happens via the daily stand up meetings. This meeting needs to be held everyday for 15 minutes. Each team member needs to talk at the meeting on the tasks they attended, what they are planning to do and any issues faced.Daily stand up meeting keeps the team updated about the current  situation of the project and it creates the platform for the team to understand if they are on the plan or if they have deviated and get back to the original plan.

At the end of each scrum retrospective meeting needs to be hosted and the team with the scrum master, product owner and client if possible needs to attend to the meeting which will help the team to understand what went right and what went wrong.

Getting Started with Agile-Scrum Methodology - Agile Scrum Team : Part II

SCRUM TEAM is the heat of Agile Scrum.Below are some of the qualities of a Scrum team.It is a self organized cross functional  and a focused team. They believe in each other as in every other team and they work together for a smooth sprint cycle. There is no 'I' but 'WE'.They help each other to solve the impediments which occur during the sprint and make sure to achieve the target or rather the selected user stories for the sprint.

The team communicate with each other during the sprint meeting and make sure that everyone is transparent to each other.

Scrum master keeps the team together and drive them for a good and quality software delivery. He/she keeps the team together and drive them towards the end.Scrum master should be great at conflict resolution and bonding people together.

This is not just for Agile Scrum team though I logged it under this but for any team who works towards achieving an objective.

Getting Started with Agile-Scrum Methodology- Introduction : Part I

Scrum is Agile methodology which is most widely and commonly used in the software industry. The methodology is a part of Iterating and Incremental methodology and is best suitable for projects with highly changing nature and rapidly emerging requirements.

There are many other project management methodologies though among all Agile -Scrum is now mostly popular among the software industry as it puts together a self organized team with max 7 +-2 members with no project manager to manage but a scrum manager to guide on the methodology for the team to get maximum benefits and a product manager who is available for the team all the times  for clarifications and requirement prioritization.I will explain the roles of Agile - scrum in the latter phase of this article.

SPRINT is one of the key terms used in Agile- Scrum methodology and it is simply a series of iterations.Sprint is usually 2 weeks to one months.BACKLOG is another like that and it is like a bucket where all the possible future amendable functionalities  brought out by the team while brainstorming or brought by the product owner after a business objective discussion with possible stake holders are kept in the backlog as then they are never forgotten or missed by anyone.

USER STORY is a simple and a understandable manner of writing the requirements. It contain 3 main sections.
As a <Actor> I want to <Action/Result> So that <Outcome>

Ex: As a project manager I want to generate the resource burn down chart so that I can plan my estimate for the next week.

Software development life cycle (SDLC) contains several steps and Agile-Scrum encapsulates almost all in it.'Requirement Analysis' is  happening without heavy documentations or complex use cases but user stories. In other project management methodologies requirement analysis itself costs so much for a business analyst and also for time he/she spends for documentation though in Agile - Sprint the development team  together with quality assurance team and Scrum Master brainstorm on the product backlog item which is prioritized by the Product Owner. Then they break the epic story  or the product backlog item in to user stories in manageable sizes to be addressed in a particular sprint.
The team cannot make the design in advance though the team will be designing the system in pieces and as the functionalities grow the design and the architecture of the system grow.Implementation do happen really well as the team is cross functional and contains developers, database engineers and technology experts.Testing plays a vital part and the Scrum team contain QA engineers for testing and test automation.

STORY POINT is also a common term used in Agile-Scrum.Every user story is given a  Fibonacci number (Ex:0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21) based on its complexity.Highly complex user story will get 13/21 whilst a medium complected story gets 5/8 and low priority rather simple story gets 1/2/3.Team decides on the story point to be given for a user story and this story sometimes differ from QA members to the developers. The team then come to a agreement and decide one number which is accepted by everyone.

The total of the story points achieved within a sprint is called VELOCITY.The project team is normally measured by this number.

Communication is a key in Agile - Sprint just as every project management methodology and they use SPRINT STAND UP MEETING which happens everyday for not more than 15 minutes.During this meeting they discuss

  • what is addressed yesterday
  • plan for today
  • impediments/obstacles

Discussing the impediments is good though if the discussion  drags it is always good to arrange the discussion after the sprint meeting as it will not eat the valuable time of all the team members.

End of each and every sprint the team needs to integrate the new functionality to the core system and describe it to the product owner and the stake holders. Feedback should be always welcome though addressing again needs to be prioritized and if the feedback needs to be addressed as soon as possible go for it else put it to the product backlog which the team can always pull when time permits.

BURN DOWN CHART is a artifact of Agile- Scrum which displays what is left to be done.Burn down chart can be drawn using story point vs sprint or actual vs estimated for the sprints.

Sprint planning is a vast area which I will address at my next post.

Please feel free to post your comments on this article for me to grow and learn more and more so that I can bring many things in a nut shell.

Effective Executive - Effectiveness Can Be Learned

This article contains view points and knowledge of Peter F. Ducker from his book "Effective Executive" and some important view points of many other consultants.

Regardless of your designation learn to get the right things done. It is simply being effective. There are many individuals who are intelligent and have a good imaginary power thus it is very rare to find some one who is effective intelligent and with a great imaginary power.Peter F. Ducker in Effective Executive mentions that brilliant men are often strikingly ineffectual; they fail to realize that the brilliant insight is not by itself achievement.

Intelligence, imagination, and knowledge are essential resources, but only effectiveness converts them into results. By themselves, they only set limits to what can be attained.Even though effectiveness is so much important most do not pay much attention to it.The reason for this negligence is less knowledge possesses on the subject within the organization.

Efficiency is another word which is bound with effectiveness. Efficiency  is  the ability to do things right rather than the ability to get the right things done. Working on the right things is what makes knowledge work effective.

Knowledge workers are workers whose main capital is knowledge. Typical examples may include software engineers, doctors, architects, engineers, scientists, public accountants, lawyers, and academics. Most of you reading this article may be knowledge workers and those of us belong to this category gets motivated be being effective at work. Effectiveness keeps the momentum whilst taking away the frustration. Ducker mentions in his book that he knowledge worker is the one “factor of production” through which the highly developed societies and economies of today—the United States, Western Europe, Japan, and also increasingly, the Soviet Union—become and remain competitive.

Usually the people who are most important to the effectiveness of an executive are not people over whom having direct control. They are people in other areas, people who in terms of organization. So it is always important to gather those people whose very much effective and teach it across.Pass the knowledge among all the associates which will help them also to practice the experience of the experts whose already practicing effectiveness.Practice needs to be continued and repeatedly done which will help the other associates to add them to their habits and even that will help them to introduce more effective methodologies which they discover themselves.

1. Focus is everything:
Arranging practice sessions limited to a duration that allows you to stay focused.

2. Timing is everything, too: Keep track of times during the day when you tend to have the most energy. This may be first thing in the morning, or right before lunch. Try to do your practicing during these naturally productive periods, when you are able to focus and think most clearly.

3. Don't trust your memory: Use a practice notebook. Plan out your practice, and keep track of your practice goals and what you discover during your practice sessions. The key to getting into "flow" when practicing is to constantly strive for clarity of intention.

4. Smarter, not harder: When things aren't working, sometimes we simply have to practice more. And then there are times when it means we have to go in a different direction.

Just force yourself to be effective. This will help you big  time in the personnel life as well as work life.

Effective Executive- Introduction

Effective Executive is a great and a very much of an inspiring book by Peter F. Ducker. It speaks of self management towards an effective individual. This book further mentions that To be reasonably effective it is not enough for the individual to be intelligent, to work hard or to be knowledgeable. Effectiveness is something separate, something different.

It teaches you many ways to be effective and finally to become an effective manager who can manage him/her self as well as others. Effectiveness is not  "In-born" but "Practiced" .Effectiveness as an executive ways of doing certain—and fairly simple—things. It consists of a small number of practices which we will talk through out these articles as explained by Ducker and taken to a nut shell by Poornima. Without effectiveness there is no “performance,”no matter how much intelligence and knowledge goes into the work, no matter how many hours it takes. Yet it is perhaps not too surprising that people have so far paid little attention to the effective executive. Thus effective individual can turn an organization to a highly effective organization which sets examples to all the other organizations around. So lets put a collective effort to be a highly effective individual.

I will be posting a series of articles on this and those who are interested can read and help your selves and please do not forget that I value your experience. So feel free to comment and share your opinions/ideas/comments with me.

Lets start.....

Thought to Life Cont. : Attitudes Towards Happiness

I would say that life is all about a hopes, expectations and dreams. Will you agree with me?

Our lives are full of busy schedules - daily tasks, challenges, pressures. This mostly takes the joy out of daily living. But what if you can take what ever you go through or do in a most positive manner.I am sure life would be more interesting and purposeful.

Attitude matters a lot for a happy life.

Wait to worry.Do not jump in to problems.Always take every hard situation which comes across as a opportunity and face them.See the silver line in the dark sky rather dark sky and not the silver line as it appear.

Keep an attitude of gratitude.Always open your mouth to say thank you and appreciate.

Health is your wealth. If you loose your health you loose everything.Take time to exercise.Catch up on your sleep and eat right.Energy is very much important to cope up with the stressing daily schedules.I know it is not really easy to get up early, do exercise and go office and work. But the process you go through really will make you more strong and self confident.

Do something good to some one. That happiness surely do comes back to you.May be not today or tomorrow but one day for sure.Rather thinking about the return factor always think of the moments happiness you get by seeing the other holding the smile you gifted to that person. That moments satisfaction is priceless.

Learn to say "NO".We all have our own capacity. If we always say yes we run a greater danger of serving relationships than if we refuse right away.

Be disciplined. If you disciplined your self today you will be happy tomorrow.Take the responsibility. Apologize the mistakes if you miss any but always be brave to take the higher responsibility.

Last but not least always stay surrounded by people who think and act positively.Find people who challenge you, believe you thus inspire you for more achievements.Love every one and be loved by every one.

Life is too short for moments of regrets sorrow and frustration.Be passionate of what you do.If you are not leave what you do right away and do what makes you happy. It helps your mind and body both be creating a happy thus stress free moments.

Okay... I have my assignments to be completed.Took moments out of it just to make my self feel happy and contended as writing is my passion.Time to get back to work.

Think through my words, if any one of you take a U turn to do something to make your self happy rather doing what is assigned that is the greater victory I achieve.

Thought to Life

After a series of technical articles on various topics such as embedded systems, emotional thinking, decision making, negotiation so on and so forth I just wanted to write some thoughts i have about life.

Lift, as everyone else says is interesting. It some times scares us and take the breath out though sometimes gives us joy and satisfy us by contentment. This so called life can give you and me too many surprises of different flavors at the different or even the same time.

We human beings are filled with expectations, hopes and wishes in life.We want things one after the other. We save for a better future.Parents save money for their kids, make houses or do everything to make the lives of their children a luxury or to give their children what they never had.Youths work hard to earn just for a better education, executive level career or for a life filled with fun.Students again a daughter or a son of above mentioned parents work hard to pass exams and give happiness to their parents or even for self satisfaction.

We all are in a race with time. You or me each and every one of us do run seeking this satisfaction/ happiness.

STOP for a minute and think. Are you happy? If you are 25 turn back and think if you were ever happy after running this game. For me I would say that I am not.I would rather say that I am just tired.Life can stop anytime. The money we earned will not bring happiness will not bring happiness when you are in your death bed seeing all your loved once crying for you.You will rather be happy thinking of the time you spend with the loved once you spent, when they are morning for you in front of your death bed.

What you have done for the helpless will make you feel happy. How many smiles you have given to the other people will make you happy when you are in your death bed.Trust me all of them will gather around you at that moment and at-least for that moment they will talk about you and say how you made them happy.

I was all okay 10 days back and a sudden fever which put me down.I was unconscious but when i get back to the conscious state I felt what would be if my breath never come back. What about my parents? What about my loved once? Did I made them happy? Most importantly was I happy?

Just a thought.Think about life.Live free and happy.I know money is important and for some people its more important then i say or even less. But make sure you balance everything. If you have no one, go alone just as I do in most times.

Positive Thinking Vs Critical Thinking

"I always hear people talk about positive thinking and its benefits. Can really positive thinking really change the status of one's life? Shouldn't' it be 'Critical Thinking'?"

What is Positive Thinking?
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” (Winston Churchill, 1987)
In simple thus physiological terms Positive thinking is a mental attitude. Further positive thinking is a emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results.

Science In Positive Thinking?
The scientific term used for positive thinking is called "Neuroplasticity". It means that our thoughts can change the structure and function of our brains. (Source:  Barrie Davenport. (n.d.) How Positive Thinking Re-Wires Your Brain. Retrieved from http://www.stevenaitchison.co.uk/blog/how-positive-thinking-re-wires-your-brain/). The idea about the scientific side of positive thinking was first introduced by William James in 1890, but it was got rejected by scientists who believed the brain is rigidly mapped out, with certain parts of the brain controlling certain functions.
Neuroplasticity is widely accepted as scientists have proven that brain is endlessly flexible and self motivated. It has the power to change its own structure, even for those with the severe neurological hardships. People with problems like strokes, mental illness etc can train and educate the other areas of their brains through repetitive mental and physical activities. It is life changing.

The 5 Step Process of Manifestation According the theories of Positive Thinking

Below describes the steps to be followed to get guaranteed results.

1) Know your desire - Many people do not really know what they desire. People think that they want this, that or the other, but never consider it in a great deepness. Knowing what you really do want is an extremely important. It is really important that you really do  take as much time as is necessary to decide and to know without any doubt that you genuinely need the object of your desire and believe that your life will be enhanced by it in a positive way. It is also important to only focus on one objective at a time. Wasting your time on  daydreaming or fantasizing about many  things would not help you to achieve the goals and desires of your life.
It is a human assembled and a hypothetical method which says that the universe is consuming energy in the form of bits of physical metal, paper or electronic bits and bytes stored on a computer system. The Universe is infinitely abundant and  everything you could possibly wish for already exists. However large or small, and all you need to do is to bring it into your physical awareness, and therefore your physical reality. Always ask for exactly what you want, and never place a monetary value upon it and again never, but never, ever ask for money.(Source: Adrian Cooper (n.d.) 5 simple steps to create whatever you desire, http://howtocreateyourfuture.blogspot.com/2006/08/5-simple-steps-to-creating-whatever.html)

2) Ask for your desire - All we need to do is to know how to receive the desire. Asking it in is an important and very precise step in this process. You need to be positive, clear-cut and precise about how you ask for your desire to be realized. The process for asking the desire can be purely in the Mind, however one of the most powerful methods of asking is to simply write down your request on paper. The physical action of writing down your desire motivates and impresses the wish on your subconscious mind that is directly is in communication with the universe.
Write down your wish in the present tense and now all you need to do is to ask the universe. It is important to have complete faith in the universe  and on God  to bring the object of you the desire into your physical reality. Any lack of faith will have a very negative effect on attracting the object of your wishes into your physical experiential reality by sending out vibrations that say you do not believe the object of your desire will manifest into your reality, in which case it will be granted and will not manifest.

3) Experience your desire - Experiencing is an important step towards allowing and therefore receiving the object of your desire into your physical reality. In order to experience you must allow it to be visible in to your physical reality. This is a fundamentally important  and one that many people fail to realize when they are subconsciously transmitting wishes, thus failing to attract and experience the object of their asking.
With or without knowledge everyone transmits desires. These desires are in the form of vibrations sent out to the universe. The vibrational harmony in these transmitted desires allow people to receive the object of their desires.
Allowing is to receive, and a very powerful method of receiving is to experience. Experiencing the object of your wishes will bring you into vibrational harmony with those wishes, thus enabling them to be attracted and manifest into your personal, physical reality. (Source: Adrian Cooper (n.d.) 5 simple steps to create whatever you desire, http://howtocreateyourfuture.blogspot.com/2006/08/5-simple-steps-to-creating-whatever.html)
Whenever you have the opportunity to remain uninterrupted and your mind is clear of other thoughts, sit down comfortably, relax as deeply as possible by taking a few deep breaths, and imagine yourself to be in the presence of the object or situation of your desires.
This process is powerful just before sleep at night and just after awaking in the morning and before arising from bed. Use all five senses within your imagination to the maximum extent in order to experience your desires. Feel it and  live it and further make it an integral part of you.
Wishes, desires and expectations are always in the present tense as the knowledge that the desire beyond any doubt that the object of your desires already exists within endless universe and that all that you have to do is to receive the object of your desires into your own personal reality.

4) Action towards your desire - Although the Universe will deliver into your physical reality you should wish and ask for. This will empower the process if you take your own steps towards your desires. This has many positive benefits including reinforcing on your subconscious mind your total commitment to realizing your desires in a totally clear-cut way.
This does not mean that you actually have to go out there and do everything yourself. By taking positive steps towards your desire you invoke another very powerful energy of intent. The energy of intent will work in group with the knowledge, asking and experiencing in a very powerful way by reinforcing your claim on the object of your desire that already exists in the "Eternal Now of the Universe".
In addition to the Energy of the goal you must also impress your subconscious mind the fact that you are very serious indeed about achieving the object of your desire into your physical experiential reality. Your subconscious mind is extremely powerful and is in direct communication with universe. If you therefore have your subconscious mind as well as your conscious Mind influencing all of the necessary Energy in the direction of bringing the object of your desire into your physical reality, it will be much more powerful and the object of your desire will manifest sooner as a result.
As soon as you know your desire, have asked for it, and are experiencing it, you must then take steps towards it and allow the Universe to manifest your desire into your physical experiential reality in ways The Universe will take care of.

5) Gratitude for your desire - Gratitude is another extremely important emotional Energy that you really must project during the course of manifesting your desires.
In the context of manifestation, gratitude is another extremely powerful emotion. The power of gratitude functions at several levels. To feel sincerely grateful is to be in tune with the Universe. It expresses the energy that you already know and appreciate the fact that you are an integral aspect of the universe, and that you are grateful for being a mindful co creator within the magnificent universe in all of its energy levels of majesty and creation.
Gratitude also conveys an acknowledgment for having received the object of your desire. One must always at all times think in terms of physically having the object of your desire actually within your physical possession. Along with those thoughts should be the feeling of the most intense gratitude for what you have already received from The Universe. Gratitude makes the object of your desires a real, tangible, integral aspect of your own reality, and the more real it is to you the sooner it will manifest into your personal experiential reality.
Gratitude conveyed with genuine sincerity brings you more into harmony with the Universe, and with it you become an even more natural creator of your desires. Those people who are completely aligned with the Universe gets a  magical life.
One should never  take anything for granted. Always feel deeply grateful for everything that happens in your reality, regardless of whether you consciously attracted it or whether you perceive it to be positive or negative. In the grand scheme of things everything that manifests into your physical reality is directly for the benefit of your own personal evolution, and you should be most grateful for it whether you consciously brought it into your own reality or not.
Being deeply grateful also helps to ensure that you never convey of dissatisfaction, which is a very negative and a very destructive emotion. Dissatisfaction, ungratefulness or unhappiness will send the wrong Energy into the Universe, which will in turn react with immutable perfection in reciprocating those negative emotions with more of the same. So whatever you feel dissatisfied, ungrateful or unhappy about will appear into your physical reality even stronger than ever, creating a vortex of negative Energy as causes with correspondingly negative effects.
Conversely, those things that you feel extremely satisfied, grateful and happy about will create a much higher, positive vibration, attracting more of the same into your life. The Universe always naturally moves in the direction of expansion and evolution, and never of contraction or destruction, so positive emotions are always much more powerful than negative emotions even though they are both Energy causes with the corresponding effects.
These then are the five powerful steps to attracting anything you could possibly desire into your life, where you can enjoy those desires into your own experiential physical reality. All of these five steps are individually very powerful indeed in their own right  but collectively they influence Energy so powerfully that you can manifest almost anything you desire into your personal reality with what might seem like amazing speed.
The entire Universe always moves in the direction of development so you should personally work hard to achieve your desires and create towards this development. Never be ashamed, hesitant or unhappy about creation. Everything you desire with great Joy, Love and Gratitude will be yours as your desire is real and your want is genuine.

Mentioning all these about positive thinking there exists a group  who sees this concept a stupid. Though positive thinking sounds useful on the surface they think it is too a soft and fluffy that is easy to dismiss.
Being a balanced judge let me explain about "Critical Thinking" which most youngsters or the Gen Y or Gen 20,20  believe in and do a comparison to choose the best and evaluate what exactly needs to be followed whether it is "Positive Thinking" of "Critical Thinking".

What is Critical Thinking?
Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and realistically. It includes the ability to engage in reflective and independent thinking.
Competencies  of a critical thinker are :
  • understand the logical connections between ideas
  • identify, construct and evaluate arguments
  • detect inconsistencies and common mistakes in reasoning
  • solve problems systematically
  • identify the relevance and importance of ideas
  • reflect on the justification of one's own beliefs and values
A critical thinker is able to reason out the consequences from what she/he knows, and she/he knows how to use of information to resolve problems, and to search for  relevant sources of information. Critical thinking can help us to gain knowledge, improve our theories, and strengthen arguments. We can use critical thinking to enhance work processes and improve social institutions.
Some people believe that critical thinking hinders creativity because it requires following the rules of logic, but creativity might require breaking rules. This is a misconception. Critical thinking is quite compatible with thinking "out-of-the-box", challenging agreements and following less popular approaches. If anything, critical thinking is an essential part of creativity because we need critical thinking to evaluate and improve our creative ideas.
Mind frequently does not examine thoughts and opinions before accepting them. If what it hears, sees and reads is always negative, it accepts this as a standard. Similarly if what your mind always hears, sees and reads positive stuff then the mind accepts positivity as the standard.
To get disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open minded, and informed by evidence  there is a specific set of steps which one should follow:
At the heart of critical thinking is the ability to ask questions. To get clarification, to consider alternatives one should always ask open ended questions starting with  “What if…?” , “Why?” , “How?” or “What’s next?”. Sometimes you’re asking questions of others, but often you are formulating questions by yourself to help you analyze assumptions, evaluate competing evidence, and to consider future consequences. You may be required to conduct your own research to get the necessary information as well as back ground information which will help you more and more about the particular incident or the scenario.
Critical thinking does not believe in everything is sees thus analyze everything around it and then come to a conclusion which i believe is the best thing to be done.

Positive thinking can be a part of critical  thinking thus critical thing carries positive thinking thus rather thinking about the better and the happy sides of it critical thinking concentrates about the consequences and possibilities and take early steps to mitigate the ricks before they occur. It is always better to mitigate the risk or unexpected disturbances rather staying expecting the positivity which will never achieved due to the occurrences of unexpected  ricks.

Can Positive Thinking Alone Bring Success?

My answer to the question "Can Positive Thinking Alone Bring Success?" is NO. So what actually does  separate the losers from the winners? What Do winners have in them so special to make them winners.
Successful people or the winners do many things that success requires:

1)      They dream about being successful
2)      They set goals.
3)      They get to work early.
4)      They do important rather than busy work.
5)      They network.
6)      They have a bias for action.

A winner naturally will dream about success  which is according to the positive thinking though she/he will never stop at that point rather will take actions towards the goal. Other than dreaming envisioning or asking the need from the universe they will set the goals and make strategic plans to achieve them like making net  works and    even being selfish. They will work really hard to achieve these goals and desires in their lives. What do failures do?
1)      They try to do as little work as possible.
2)      They avoid responsibility.
3)      They watch a lot of television.
4)      They spend lots of time on internet doing nothing but face booking.
5)      They blame their failings on others.
6)      They sleep more than it is necessary.
The secret to success is action, not attitude. No matter what the attitude is as long as you spend most of your time and effort towards achieving your goal. If you do the right things you will be successful regardless of your emotional condition or mental attitude. If you do the wrong things, no amount of positive thinking will save you. If you want to succeed in life, don’t spend any time looking at yourself in the mirror and shouting. Don’t bother start acting positively towards your desires.
Can  Positive Thinking Change the Reality?

People who believe this myth see a problem and believe that positive thinking will only ignore the ugliness of their reality. The truth is positive thinking doesn’t ignore the problem; it helps you see the problem in a new light. In fact, you don’t even see ‘problems’ as problems. Think about it; regardless of how you react to an external situation, the situation will still be the same. If being upset doesn’t change the outcome of a past situation, wouldn’t it serve you, and your health, to see the positives?
A positive mental attitude creates a mindset of abundance, enthusiasm, and solutions. Instead of thinking about what can’t be done, a positive thinker will not be constrained by ‘can’ and ‘cannot.’ A positive thinker is free to think of new ways to solve problems because they are not limited by fear of failure. When we are in a state of abundance, we provide a fertile ground for possibilities and making dreams a reality. We are in a state of allowance, openly accepting the gifts of life to flow to us. When I realized this principle and shifted my thinking habits, miracles started popping up in my life.
A positive mental attitude can – and indeed does – change reality by allowing a person to act in an entirely different way, thus harvesting entirely different results.

Concept of Never Giving Up Vs Knowing When to Give Up?

Never Giving Up?

At some point we embark on in our lives, sometimes we get to a point where we feel like giving up. Sometimes we give up before we even start and other times we give up just before we are about to make that huge break through that we have been putting so much effort in to achieve.
There are reasons why we should never give up and listed below are such reasons which one should keep going rather giving up.
1)      Because your goal is realistic
2)      Because your strong
3)      Because you can prove to yourself - You CAN and WILL achieve what you set out to do
4)      Because you have done if before
5)      Because you believe in your dreams
6)      Because of your family and friends.
7)      Because you want to improve your world
8)      Because you deserve to be happy
9)      Because your  inspire others
In life there are going to be many people who will try to bring you down and tell you what you want to achieve is not possible. Don’t let anyone destroy your dreams. Always have a motivation to your life and high energy towards the goals. They may be personnel, professional or even social thus being hyper about it will always help one to stay stick to the goal.

Knowing When to Give Up?

Though I said so many things about positive thinking and critical thinking combined with all the high tech scientific words as human beings where is always an instance where we decide then we can't hold to it any more.
Are You Physically, Emotionally, and Financially exhausted?
If you are experiencing exhaustion you should probably give up your goal/desire and move to another expectation for life. Your exhausted means that your body is attempting to tell you what you mind will not accept: it’s time for a desire/ goal change. It could be that a specific part of your desire, but it’s often the sum of your circumstances that need shifting.
What Will Be Your Contentment Level When You Achieve Your Desire?
You work really hard, spend lots of time and effort to achieve a necessity or a goal thus if you will not feel that satisfaction and contentment which you wanted to have is not what after putting all this effort, one should always think through when deciding on the goal or desire it is very important to think about the final satisfaction and contentment  level as well.
People of this earth do things by putting time and lots of effort to have a happy and contended life. Most of the time though people spend lots in time and effort and achieve the need or the desire the contentment level seems really low. We all want to be happy and achieve our goals though too much anxiety, anger, depression, and other unpleasant emotions cause suffering. The tolerance of these emotions may reduce the ultimate contentment thus there can be many other reasons behind. The balance between contentment and growth is very much important to be maintained from the very stage of initializing the desire / goal or attending to the goal towards the very end which is achieving the goal.
This can be one of the instances when it makes sense to seek outside help and advice. If you are facing a harsh life decision, seek help and advice from other people who may have experiences that you have not yet encountered. This is how we borrow wisdom from others.
Opportunity Cost of the Desire/Goal?
Knowing the difference can come down to "opportunity cost". You pay a price either way in most choices, whether you decide to accept reality or whether you decide to try to change it. In either case you lose out on the benefits that you would have received had you taken the other path.
In the very first place one should think about what she/he want to achieve in life and the satisfaction level one want to achieve. If at a instance you and heard feel that you can achieve more contentment by doing something else by attempting another goal if you feel that your life status will go up than the current goal which you are trying hard evaluate it from your brain and stop attempting to it. Select the goal with a high opportunity cost rather wasting the time.
Thus there is always going to be a component of potential regret if you keep second guessing yourself. There is likely a silver lining in any path that you choose, so when you take a different path, you are going to miss out on some sort of lesson.
Remember : During some instances though the Return of Investment (ROI) of attending to your desired goal is really high than the other alternative the contentment / satisfaction may lead you towards the desired goal which has a lower ROI. At such instances I would recommend to attend to the path which contains much more happiness factor as at the end of the before the death one might remember the moments of happiness gather achievements.
Does Your Ambition is Negatively Influencing Other Objectives?
Making commitments is great as it keep us grounded, focused, and, hopefully, energized in positive pursuits. However, when that focus becomes too constricted, suddenly our lives are narrowed into slender lines. So it is very much important that you be a balanced soul and attend to all your work.
Giving up on dream -the dream of a perfect relationship, a perfect job, or a perfect family), is one of the most painful things that one can do. But it’s often also one of the most important. But if one is not sure then visualizing what it would be like to give up. If in imagining this, you find yourself feeling calmer, lighter, or more peaceful, there’s your answer.

Concluding the article the author thinks that critical thinking is more practical and realistic as it can also be a combination of positive thinking and critical thinking both. There are some instances in life where you have to believe in positive thinking as you have no other choice saying that in some instances in life positive thinking would not do anything but critical thinking and the necessary actions to achieve the goal or over some the issue.
It is all based on the situation and circumstance though even at instances where you have no potion it is always a good idea to think twice about the consequences and decide on your path.
